6 years agoDetroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford did all he could do in a 30-27 loss to the 49ers on Sunday. He finished 34 of 53 for 347 yards and three touchdowns. While the Lions held an early lead late in the first quarter, San Francisco took it back in the second and never looked back, forcing Detroit to rely on the passing game. The 49ers eventually took a 17-point lead in the fourth quarter before Stafford attempted to lead the Lions on a hopeful comeback, falling just short. San Francisco was able to generate pressure but Stafford looked comfortable taking several shots downfield, targeting his big-play receivers often. This is the Stafford we have come to know over the years. Despite the loss, his play is good momentum heading into a Week 3 home matchup against the New England Patriots.--Steve Janik - RotoBaller
