Max Fried Scratched From Start Due To COVID-19 Protocol
4 years agoAtlanta Braves starting pitcher Max Fried was scratched from his scheduled start on Friday due to being exposed to COVID-19, according to ESPN. Fried has not tested positive for the virus but will need to quarantine for a few days before he can make his Grapefruit League debut. The 27-year-old lefty is coming off a career year where he went 7-0 with a 2.25 ERA and a 1.09 WHIP. Fried's statcast numbers backed up his breakout as he was among the league leaders in limiting hard contact ranking in the top tenth percentile in barrel rate (3.3), average exit velocity (83..4 MPH), and expected ERA (2.81). He won't rack up a ton of strikeouts, but Fried should provide strong ratios and plenty of wins backed by a strong Braves lineup making him a solid SP2 in fantasy.
