Max Muncy Out Of Lineup Friday Due To Planned Rest
4 years agoLos Angeles Dodgers first baseman Max Muncy is not among the club’s starting nine for Friday’s contest versus the Angels and left-hander Patrick Sandoval. Edwin Rios is starting at first in place of Muncy, whom manager Dave Roberts says is just getting a planned night of rest. Entering play Friday, Muncy’s 90 plate appearances were the most in the Majors, and he has been on the sour end of some bad luck to begin 2020. Though he is batting just .169, Muncy has delivered an above-average 11.3% barrel rate and his xSLG (.451) is 100 points higher than his actual slugging percentage (.351). It would figure that Muncy will reclaim his first-base job Saturday against Angels southpaw Andrew Heaney, in which he may be a solid DFS option due to his reverse splits (.874 OPS vs. LHP; .562 vs. RHP) to begin the year.
