6 years agoWashington Nationals starting pitcher Max Scherzer fell to 1-4 on Wednesday in Washington's 5-1 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals. Scherzer allowed three runs in the first inning after right fielder Victor Robles appeared to lose a ball in the lights on an RBI double and shortstop Carter Kieboom was then unable to get to a ground ball on a two-run single. Thereafter, Scherzer pitched six scoreless innings, but the damage was done. In seven innings and 110 pitches, Scherzer allowed three runs on eight hits with two walks and eight strikeouts. It was another disappointing stat line for Scherzer, but fantasy owners have no choice but to stick with him and hope his luck evens out going forward.--Nathaniel Green
