3 years agoWashington Nationals starting pitcher Max Scherzer (arm) has been scratched from his start in Saturday due to mild discomfort in his right triceps, according to Jessica Camerato of MLB.com. Camerato adds that the issue is related to how Scherzer feels while hitting, and does not affect how he pitches. Scherzer felt the discomfort in his arm during batting practice on Tuesday, and it did not feel better in time for his start Saturday. Maria Torres of The Athletic also reports that Scherzer is confident he will be able to avoid the IL with this issue, as he just needs a few days for the discomfort to subside and he did not want to risk exacerbating the issue by pitching. With Scherzer out, Jon Lester will now make the start against the Orioles.--Michael Grennell - RotoBaller
