4 years agoWashington Nationals right-handed pitcher Max Scherzer has been one of the preeminent arms of his generation, but his shortened 2020 campaign hasn’t been up to the elite expectations that many set for the likely future Hall of Famer. The .419 xSLG and .311 xwOBA that he has compiled over his first 11 starts this season are right in the middle of the pack across the Majors after years of upper echelon production. He has just one start remaining this year against the Mets this weekend, in which he’s likely to empty the proverbial tank as it comes to pitch count, which may bode in his favor from a DFS perspective. Heading into ‘21, fantasy managers may begin to see the 36-year-old as a high-volume strikeout pitcher that also yields his fair share of offensive output.--Jesse Borek
