4 years agoWashington Nationals starter Max Scherzer allowed six runs on nine hits and two walks across 5 1/3 innings of work during Sunday's 8-4 loss to the Atlanta Braves. He salvaged some fantasy value by striking out 10 batters during the contest. Alas, it was another mediocre performance for the veteran right-hander, who has struggled with consistency throughout 2020. He has had five starts where he has given up one run or less, but four starts where he has given up four runs or more. Scherzer now owns a 4-3 record to go along with a 4.04 ERA, 1.40 WHIP, and 79/19 K/BB rate. He remains a must-start option when he takes the mound but is not the unflappable ace he once was.--Raymond Harrison - RotoBaller
