3 years agoNew York Mets starting pitcher Max Scherzer will pitch the series opener against the Seattle Mariners on Friday, followed by Chris Bassitt on Saturday. Scherzer was handed his first loss of the season last Sunday against the Philadelphia Phillies, when he gave up three runs on 10 hits while striking out seven and walking none in six innings. Despite the loss, the 37-year-old ace has been strong through his first six starts for the Mets, posting a 2.92 ERA and a 0.95 WHIP while fanning 49 and walking nine in 37 innings pitched.
