Melvin Gordon III Ready To Compete With Javonte Williams

2 years agoDenver Broncos running back Melvin Gordon III is ready to compete with second-year back Javonte Williams for the team's 1A role in 2022. Gordon had two 900-yard rushing seasons in his first two years with the team despite splitting carries with Phillip Lindsay in 2020 and Williams last year. But Williams is expected to earn a promotion this year after rushing for over 900 yards in his rookie season as the 1B back behind Gordon, especially after Gordon re-signed at a pay cut from his last two seasons. Gordon still has impressive explosion and a good combination of speed and size, and he ranks fourth among active RBs with 6,144 career rushing yards. However, Williams is expected to be the clear lead back this year, making Gordon more of a low-ceiling RB3/flex for fantasy managers or a handcuff for Williams.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
