Mercedes Lewis 'Grinding' Through Camp
3 years agoGreen Bay Packers tight end Mercedes Lewis continues to put in the work daily as he prepares for his 16th season in the NFL. The veteran tight end caught only 10 passes last season but three of them went for touchdowns and has been a mentor for rising talent Robert Tonyan. Tight ends coach Justin Outten spoke about Lewis, telling reporters, "He loves being here. He loves being around the game. When you love something, it's easy to forget you're in Year 16. He's hitting his marks in the run game way quicker than he did in the last couple years. Our connection in our room has been awesome. There's typically not a lot of boring, lull days with him. He's all-in and trying to learn and trying to bring guys along. He's really invested in us." Lewis lacks fantasy value but could be a crucial role player for a potent offense.
