Merrill Kelly Expects To Make Next Start
4 years agoArizona Diamondbacks pitcher Merrill Kelly (shoulder) expects to make his next start. He was hit in the left shoulder by a 108.7 MPH line drive from the Angels' two-way star Shohei Ohtani during Friday's game. Kelly was left with a contusion on his left shoulder. He allowed three runs on four hits and two walks while striking out six across five innings during Friday's 6-5 loss against the Angels. The 32-year-old did not factor into the decision. The player known as "Mert" owns a 5.14 ERA, 1.33 WHIP, and 68 strikeouts across 75.1 innings in 2021. Kelly is expected to make his next start on Wednesday in San Francisco but is mainly a streamer in deep-league and NL-only formats.
