Merrill Kelly Faces Tough Test Saturday

4 years agoArizona Diamondbacks starting pitcher Merrill Kelly will have his hands full versus a formidable Padres lineup on Saturday. The Friars offense has tagged right-handers to a top three rank in OPS (.808) and wRC+ (126), and are playing in their home confines where they were a much better hitting team a year ago. Kelly has been surprisingly hot in the early going with an 11/1 K/BB, and four earned runs allowed in 13 2/3 IP while showing some slight increase in velocity. His luck may run out in this one, however, after posting a miserable 5.42 ERA on the road in 2019, including a 4.30 ERA and 1.43 WHIP in Petco Park. Kelly is a risky play to trust for Saturday's slate in both DFS and season-long.--Riley Mrack - RotoBaller
