Mets Acquire Trevor Williams
3 years agoChicago Cubs starting pitcher Trevor Williams will join shortstop Javier Baez in a trade with the New York Mets. Williams struggled in his time with the Cubs this season, but gives the Mets an extra arm at the end of the rotation and he can also be used as a long reliever. Williams has appeared in 13 games this season with 12 starts and is 4-2 with a 5.06 ERA. Williams can remain on the waiver wire in all formats for now. With Williams sent packing, the Cubs are likely to promote one of Justin Steele or Keegan Thompson to replace him in the rotation. Both Thompson and Steele have performed well out of the bullpen this season and are worth keeping an eye on in deeper leagues.
