7 years agoGiven the injuries to catchers Travis d’Arnaud and Kevin Plawecki, this isn’t surprising news, but the 10-1 New York Mets have spoken to the rebuilding Miami Marlins about catcher J.T. Realmuto. Mike Puma of the New York Post says it would take a “haul” to land Realmuto, but keep in mind the Marlins didn’t land a single top-100 prospect for outfielders Giancarlo Stanton or Marcell Ozuna and landed one for outfielder Christian Yelich that many had soured on. A deal is probably unlikely here, but clearly the Marlins haven’t been flooded with offers for Realmuto, so you never know. Realmuto has been out of action with a back injury and expects to return around April 19-20.--John Smith
