Mets Interest In Taijuan Walker Remains Serious
4 years agoOn Wednesday, it was reported that the New York Mets have identified right-handed pitcher Taijuan Walker as someone they have serious interest in. In 2020, over 11 starts and 53 1/3 innings pitched between the Mariners and Blue Jays, Walker posted a 2.70 ERA, a 1.16 WHIP, and a 50:19 K:BB. For his career, the 28-year old has a 3.84 ERA and 1.25 WHIP in eight seasons with Seattle, Arizona, and Toronto. According to the same reports, the two sides have engaged in extensive discussions. If signed, Walker would slot into the Mets starting rotation behind Marcus Stroman as their fourth starter. He would likely remain in the rotation when Noah Syndergaard (elbow) returns to action mid-season. Walker could provide season-long value as a back-end starter in mixed leagues pitching for a competitive Mets ballclub if he is ultimately added.
