Mets Offer Francisco Lindor 10-Year $325 Million Contract
4 years agoThe New York Mets have reportedly made a contract extension offer of 10-years, $325 million to shortstop Francisco Lindor. The Mets had been reportedly willing to go to, at least, $300 million to get a deal completed between the team and Lindor prior to Opening Day. It would appear the Mets have made good on their word. It is now a question of whether Lindor will accept this offer or continue to negotiate the terms. If a deal is not reached, Lindor could leave New York once his contract expires at the conclusion of the 2021 season when he hits free agency. Although Lindor had a down year in 2020 while slashing .258/.335/.415 with just eight home runs and 27 RBI, expectations are high for him in 2021 hitting in the potent Mets' lineup. Lindor fueled those expectations by posting a .370/.433/.630 slash line with four home runs and 14 RBI over 54 Grapefruit League at-bats.
