6 years agoAccording to Triple-A Las Vegas manager Tony DeFrancesco, New York Mets prospect pitcher Jamie Callahan will undergo shoulder surgery. Tough break for Callahan, who we can only assume will miss the rest of the season (though we don’t know exactly what type of injury led to the surgery). Callahan has been out since April 21, and wasn’t very successful prior to the injury. Across 8 1/3 innings pitched this season, Callahan was rocked to the tune of a 9.72 ERA, allowing nine earned runs and striking out nine with four walks for the Las Vegas 51s. Acquired from the Boston Red Sox in the Addison Reed trade last year, it seems as though it could be some time before the Mets start to see a return on the transaction.--John Smith
