Brandon Nimmo Working To Be A Spark For Mets
With the Mets facing injuries to both Kevin Plawecki and Travis d'Arnaud, the team needed to bring in reinforcements on offense. One of those reinforcements comes in the form of Brandon Nimmo, who has been recalled from Triple-A. Nimmo has appeared in seven games at the major league level in 2018, hitting .300 with one stolen base and four walks. In 2017, Nimmo appeared in 69 games, hitting .260 with five home runs, 21 RBIs and three stolen bases. The former top prospect has talent, but it is hard to see him get meaningful playing time with all three of Yoenis Cespedes, Michael Conforto and Jay Bruce healthy. That being said, Nimmo has mashed righties during his time in the majors, hitting .280 with six home runs and 26 RBIs, perhaps making a streaming option on days he starts against right-handed pitching.
