7 years agoThe New York Mets have called up right-handed reliever Gerson Bautista from Double-A Binghamton, demoting reliever Hansel Robles to Triple-A Las Vegas to make room. The Mets bullpen has been gassed, as evidenced by their disastrous showing against the Washington Nationals on Monday night. Now, at least for the time being, they'll have a fresh arm to help out. Bautista was acquired from the Boston Red Sox last summer in the Addison Reed deal, and was thought of as a potential high-end bullpen arm down the line. But with an 11:0 K:BB ratio over his first 11 innings this season, the Mets evidently think he’s ready to contribute now. There’s no fantasy value here, but Bautista could have the stuff to be a closer one day.--John Smith
