Mets Recall Tomas Nido
7 years agoIn light of the injury news to catcher Travis d’Arnaud, the New York Mets have recalled catcher Tomas Nido from Double-A Binghamton. Nido will presumably back up starter Kevin Plawecki, although Plawecki and d’Arnaud were getting near-equal playing time prior to d’Arnaud’s injury. Nido had some buzz after a very good 2016 in Single-A, but his slash line fell off a cliff in 2017 when he moved up to Double-A. He likely won’t garner much, if any, fantasy consideration, but stranger things have happened, especially at a position like catcher. He’s not worth a pickup in any format at the moment.
