Mets Recalling Dominic Smith
7 years agoAccording to Betsy Helfand of the Las Vegas Review Journal, the New York Mets are recalling first baseman Dominic Smith and pitcher Buddy Baumann on Friday. For those owners of Smith in dynasty leagues, don’t get too excited yet. With outfielder/first baseman Jay Bruce on paternity leave for the weekend, Smith’s return to the Majors is likely a short-term deal until Monday. Given the lack of production from regular first baseman Adrian Gonzalez, it’s possible Smith stays with a strong showing – but it’s doubtful. After seemingly watch his dynasty star fade throughout the winter and spring training, Smith hasn’t done a ton to make it shine brighter again. He’s slashing .278/.390/.417 with only two home runs for Triple-A Las Vegas in 2018; disappointing numbers relative to the hitter’s haven that is Vegas and the PCL.
