4 years agoFollowing a 4-2 loss to the Red Sox on Thursday, New York Mets manager Luis Rojas said the Mets will look to get first baseman Dominic Smith more starts. So far in 2020, Smith has started only two games and registered only eight plate appearances. Despite the limited use, Smith has made the most of it. He has hit one home run, driven in five runs, while batting .286. Rojas did reference the fact that the Mets have seen a lot of lefthanded starters in 2020 as the reason for Smith's infrequent use. That said, it is clear the Mets need to get Smith's bat more involved in their offense. In 2019, Smith hit .282/.355/.525 with 11 homers and 25 RBI in just 177 at-bats. If the Mets can somehow find more consistent at-bats for Smith and get him in the lineup regularly, he would quickly become a fantasy-relevant hitter in mixed leagues. In the meantime, DFS owners can look to Smith as a cheap first base option on those days where the Mets have him in the lineup.--Nick Ritrivi - RotoBaller
