Micah Parsons Wins Defensive Rookie Of The Year Award
3 years agoDallas Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons unanimously won the 2021 Associated Press Defensive Rookie of the Year award on Thursday night. The 12th overall pick in 2021, Parsons had one of the most dominant rookie seasons in NFL history, setting a franchise rookie record with 13 sacks while tying for the league lead with 20 tackles for loss, the most by a Cowboys linebacker since Sean Lee in 2017. The young pass-rusher was moved to full-time defensive end in Week 2 when DeMarcus Lawrence broke his foot. But he lined up at linebacker, edge rusher and as a situational blitzer all season and became the 12th Cowboys rookie to make the Pro Bowl. The 22-year-old also had 84 tackles (64 solo), 30 QB hits and three forced fumbles in 16 regular season games.
