Michael Carter Won't Return Sunday
3 years agoNew York Jets running back Michael Carter (concussion) and left tackle George Fant (knee) have been downgraded to out on Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Carter suffered a head injury early in the first half and was diagnosed with a concussion, so he has entered the league's concussion protocol and will not return to Week 17 action. Before the injury, he had three carries for 54 yards and caught his lone target for nine yards. With Tevin Coleman out due to COVID-19, Austin Walter, who has a team-high five carries for 23 yards at halftime, and Ty Johnson will split backfield work against a strong Tampa run defense. Coleman is likely to return for the regular season finale next week, but Carter may have played his final game of the 2021 season.
