6 years agoBoston Red Sox second baseman Michael Chavis was seen tracking balls in the outfield during batting practice on Wednesday. The Red Sox would benefit from the versatility if Chavis were able to occasionally start in one of the corner outfield spots. With Mookie Betts and Andrew Benintendi’s ability to each play center, it would give the Red Sox the flexibility to give Jackie Bradley Jr. a rest, as he’s off to a rough start. It would also keep Chavis’ bat in the lineup as much as possible with Eduardo Nunez back from the injured list and Dustin Pedroia (knee) not far behind, playing games at Double-A Portland. Chavis is a good bat to hold on to, however, he is a risky buy until we have a better idea of his playing time going forward.--Zach Alexander
