Michael Conforto Continues To Struggle
3 years agoOn Friday night, when the New York Mets scored 13 runs on ten hits against the Pirates, outfielder Michael Conforto went 0-for-3 with a walk and two strikeouts. Conforto's season-long struggles continue. He has really bottomed out since his return from the injured list back on June 23. He is just 5-for-45 (.111) since his return from the IL and is slashing .053/.280/.053 over his last seven games (19 at-bats). To the extent they haven't already, fantasy managers should put Conforto on the bench until such time he shows signs of heating up. Between the hamstring injury that kept him sidelined for over one month and his 2021 performance, Conforto has been providing fantasy managers with replacement-level production. Coming into 2021 with a pre-season ADP of 76, managers drafted Conforto as a second outfielder with expectations of 30 home runs, and 90-100 RBI. Hopefully, Conforto can turn things around for fantasy managers and the Mets in the second half of the season. His production in prior seasons, including a solid 2020 in which he slashed .322/.412/.515 over 54 games, suggests the "real" Conforto is in there somewhere. It is just a matter of whether we will see him at all in 2021.
