4 years agoNew York Mets outfielder Michael Conforto is entering the final year of his contract in 2021, but he has expressed a desire to remain with the only club that he has known as a professional. Conforto is optimistic that the opening of Spring Training could move the two sides closer to a long-term pact, saying via Anthony DiComo of MLB.com, "I don't want it to linger into the season." While Conforto stated that he wouldn't "put a date on it" as to when he would stop considering a deal, coming off of a strong .322/.412/.515 slash line in 2020 likely bodes well for his merits in negotiations. With Francisco Lindor also expected to receive a hefty potential payday from the Mets ahead of '22, it appears that New York could have a busy spring extension budget from the get-go.--Jesse Borek
