Michael Lorenzen In Good Position To Win Rotation Spot
4 years agoCincinnati Reds right-hander Michael Lorenzen struggled in his Cactus League debut on Friday but the team doesn't appear to be too concerned over it. Manager David Bell told reporters that Lorenzen is "in a good position to earn a starting spot, but we have a long way to go." The veteran right-hander has been in a battle this spring for the fifth rotation spot with Jose De Leon, Tejay Antone, and Jeff Hoffman. It appears that the Reds would prefer to give the spot to Lorenzen, meaning it is his job to lose this spring. Lorenzen has mostly worked out of the bullpen over his career, posting a 3.97 ERA across 444 1/3 career innings.
