Michael Pineda Earns First Win Since 2017
6 years agoMinnesota Twins right-hander Michael Pineda held the Philadelphia Phillies to two runs over five innings of work in a 6-2 win on Saturday. Pineda struck out five and allowed just five baserunners in the start. Coming off of Tommy John surgery which caused him to miss all of 2018, Pineda earned his first win since the 2017 season. The Twins have been taking it easy with Pineda as he works his way back but the early results have been encouraging. Pineda now has a 2.00 ERA and 11 strikeouts in nine innings of work spanning two starts. He is a strong waiver add in leagues where he's available. Pineda will be a solid starting option in his next start, which comes against an exploitable Detroit Tigers lineup.
