Michael Pineda Picks Up Second Win
6 years agoMinnesota Twins right-hander Michael Pineda earned his second win in his Saturday start against the Detroit Tigers. Pineda held Detroit to three runs in six innings while striking out five and working around eight hits. The veteran is off to a strong start this season, posting a 2-0 record, 3.00 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 15 strikeouts in 15 innings. His fastball is sitting a couple of miles per hour below where he was before his Tommy John surgery in 2017, but it hasn't adversely affected him on the mound yet. Pineda will look to stay hot in his next start, which is scheduled to come against the Toronto Blue Jays on Thursday. He will be a must-start against that light-hitting lineup.
