3 years agoMinnesota Twins starting pitcher Michael Pineda put together a solid effort against a tough Astros lineup Saturday. Pineda pitched six innings, allowing two runs on seven hits while striking out three batters with no walks issued. The righty yielded one run on an infield single, then later served up a solo homer to Yordan Alvarez, though he was able to keep a tough lineup off the scoreboard for the most part. The underlying numbers weren't particularly encouraging, as he only generated eight whiffs while Astros hitters managed a superb 93.4 MPH average exit velocity against him. Despite this, Pineda has now tallied two quality starts in his last three outings, though the tough matchups aren't going away, as he's lined up to face the Rays next.--Tim Capurso
