3 years agoMinnesota Twins starting pitcher Michael Pineda didn't factor into the decision in his first outing since being scratched from Sunday's start. Pineda pitched 4 1/3 innings, allowing a pair of runs on four hits and two walks. He fanned only two batters on nine swinging strikes, though he did paint the zone with 14 called strikes, contributing to a solid 30 percent CSW. The veteran righty was moving along relatively well until the fifth inning, when he loaded up the bases and was ultimately pulled from the game, getting charged with two runs. Pineda still owns a 3.46 ERA and 1.01 WHIP, though he is getting away with the highest barrel rate and hard-hit rates of his career, which is why Statcast believes he's been lucky, as evidenced by his 4.58 expected ERA. Perhaps Pineda makes sense as a sell-high pitcher, though it would be best to wait for a better performance by him before exploring possible trades.--Tim Capurso
