Michael Pittman Jr. Poised For A Big Season
3 years agoIndianapolis Colts wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. has displayed an intense vocal and physical leadership style during team training camp that matches his playing style. The second-year wideout didn't have much opportunity with Philip Rivers in 2020, seeing 61 targets and turning that into 40 receptions for 503 yards and a touchdown across 13 games. New quarterback Carson Wentz, a more athletic, big-armed quarterback than Rivers, should be more beneficial to Pittman in 2021. Pittman is currently being drafted as the WR49 with an ADP of 105, meaning he's sliding into the ninth-round of fantasy drafts. He has the size to dominate defenders when jump balls and one-on-one targets on the perimeter inevitably arise, which he failed to consistently do during his rookie season. Pittman totaled a lackluster 36.4 percent contested-catch rate, while teammate T.Y. Hilton had a 41.7 percent catch rate despite being several inches smaller. Expect Pittman to improve his efficiency and surpass 100 targets in 2021 due to improved quarterback play and another year in head coach Frank Reich's offense.
