6 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals starter Michael Wacha was removed in the fourth inning of Wednesday's game against the Philadelphia Phillies with a left oblique strain. Wacha was seen wincing on the mound and there was a noticeable dip in his velocity throughout the game. He gave up three runs (one earned) on six hits and two walks through 3 2/3 innings. This situation is incredibly concerning for Cardinals fans and fantasy owners alike, as an oblique strain is a troublesome ailment for pitchers. Wacha has a stellar 8-2 record on the season with a 3.24 ERA and 1.19 WHIP. There is no immediate timetable for the injury, but it seems likely that Wacha will have to head to the disabled list for a couple of weeks. John Gant and Dakota Hudson are possible rotation replacements.--Raymond Harrison - RotoBaller
