4 years agoTampa Bay Rays starting pitcher Michael Wacha struggled in a 5-1 loss to the Mariners on Friday night, allowing five runs on 11 hits and one walk while striking out two over 3 2/3 innings of work. Wacha had put together a couple nice outings at the end of April, but since May 2 he has posted a 7.13 ERA and 1.70 WHIP with nine strikeouts in 17 2/3 innings of work. He's being used pretty much exclusively as an opener for the Rays, and any value he may have had earlier in the season is gone by now.--Michael Grennell - RotoBaller
