Miguel Andujar Assaulted, Robbed In Dominican Republic
3 years agoNew York Yankees outfielder/infielder Miguel Andujar was assaulted and robbed at gunpoint at his farm in the Dominican Republic on Wednesday, according to multiple reports. The 27-year-old is no longer in danger, but he had an expensive watch stolen from him while bullets were fired. Andujar was not shot and is expected to report to Yankees camp on Sunday. Andujar took over as the team's starting third baseman in 2018 and finished second in the American League Rookie of the Year voting after hitting .297 with 27 home runs, 92 RBI and an .855 OPS in 149 games. Since that big year, though, he's played in just 78 games in the last three seasons and has hit .228 with seven home runs and 18 RBI in that span, mainly due to injuries.
