4 years agoNew York Yankees third baseman and outfielder Miguel Andujar was optioned to the team’s alternate site in a surprising move on Thursday. Andujar had struggled after seeing playing time in five of the team’s 11 games, collecting only a single over 14 at-bats. With roster sizes shrinking to 28 players on Thursday, it appears as though Andujar’s slow start combined with the team’s stellar outfield depth gave the Yankees enough of a reason to option the talented 25-year-old. Mike Tauchman figures to get near-everyday playing time in left field now, making Tauchman worth picking up in most leagues even if he winds up splitting some time with Brett Gardner.
