Miguel Andujar Optioned To Alternate Site
4 years agoNew York Yankees third baseman and outfielder Miguel Andujar was optioned to the team’s alternate site in a surprising move on Thursday. Andujar had struggled after seeing playing time in five of the team’s 11 games, collecting only a single over 14 at-bats. With roster sizes shrinking to 28 players on Thursday, it appears as though Andujar’s slow start combined with the team’s stellar outfield depth gave the Yankees enough of a reason to option the talented 25-year-old. Mike Tauchman figures to get near-everyday playing time in left field now, making Tauchman worth picking up in most leagues even if he winds up splitting some time with Brett Gardner. Andujar should be dropped following this transaction.
