4 years agoNew York Mets right-handed relief pitcher Miguel Castro is off to a strong start to the 2021 campaign, placing him on the radar of managers in leagues that reward holds. In nine innings pitched in 2021, Castro has recorded 15 strikeouts and posted a 2.00 ERA, a 1.22 WHIP, and has walked only three batters. Most notably, Castro's overall CSW rate is 39.6% which is ninth in MLB (minimum 50 pitches), just behind Tejay Antone and ahead of Aroldis Chapman. Though he has only recorded one hold so far, Mets' manager Luis Rojas has been deploying Castro in higher leverage roles in recent games. This should give Castro a number of hold opportunities in front of Trevor May who has been handling eighth inning duties for the Mets. Managers in deeper leagues who are in need of holds could look to Castro as a sneaky FAB option who can also provide solid strikeout totals. Castro should retain a sizable and important role among the Mets' relief corps even after Seth Lugo (elbow) returns to the team in mid-to-late May.--Nick Ritrivi - RotoBaller
