Miguel Vargas Optioned To Minors
2 years agoThe Los Angeles Dodgers optioned rookie third baseman Miguel Vargas to the minors on Monday with third baseman Justin Turner (abdomen) on track to return from the injured list on Tuesday. Vargas, the team's No. 5 prospect per MLB Pipeline, only appeared in two games for the Dodgers after being called up. He managed to go 2-for-8 with a double, two RBI and a stolen base in those two games, but he'll head back to Triple-A Oklahoma City with Turner ready to return. The 22-year-old can also play third base and first base and was hitting a strong .291/.382/.497 with an .880 OPS, 15 home runs, 72 RBI, 81 runs scored and 12 stolen bases in 94 games at Oklahoma City before his first big-league call-up. Vargas has great bat-to-ball skills and is starting to show his raw power from the right-handed side of the plate.
