Mike Evans To Play Out Fifth-Year Option
7 years agoTampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans' agent, Deryk Gilmore, said that he and his client are in no rush to sign an extension. Evans is currently set to play the 2018 season under his $13.2 million fifth-year option, and Gilmore said they aren't negotiating a long-term contract extension with the team right now. Evans is just 24 years of age but has already had over 1,000 yards receiving in each of his first four seasons and is No. 3 all time in the team's record book for most receiving yards. He also holds the team record for most receiving touchdowns in a season with 12, twice. The 24-year-old barely eclipsed the 1,000-yard mark in 2017 and had only five touchdowns in 15 games, but he could be in line for much better production if quarterback Jameis Winston can stay healthy and take a step forward next season. Evans could be in line for a big payday on the open market if he performs well in 2018.
