6 years agoOakland Athletics starting pitcher Mike Fiers allowed just one hit over six scoreless innings with three walks and two strikeouts to square his regular-season record at 1-1, topping the Los Angeles Angels in the regular-season home opener on Thursday. Fiers atoned for a shaky performance in Japan against the Seattle Mariners in his first start, settling down and keeping the ball in the yard. He was an impressive 8-2 with a 2.81 ERA and .245 opponent batting average in 18 home starts last season in Oakland's pitcher-friendly park, so DFS owners will want to keep him in mind when he is working at home.--Daniel Dobish
