6 years agoOakland Athletics starting pitcher Mike Fiers allowed three earned runs, five hits and a walk with three strikeouts over five innings in a road loss against the Boston Red Sox on Wednesday, slipping to 2-3 with a 6.81 ERA. He also hit a batter while throwing just 42 of his 64 pitches for strikes. He hasn't won in five consecutive starts dating back to April 2 against the Red Sox when he spun six scoreless. Fiers has been hurt by the home run, allowing at least one homer in five straight (seven total). He'll look to bounce back in Wednesday's game against the Cincinnati Reds and former A's hurler Sonny Gray.--Daniel Dobish
