4 years agoAtlanta Braves starting pitcher Mike Foltynewicz cleared waivers and is being optioned to the minors. Foltynewicz was designated for assignment after a rough outing against the Rays in which he allowed six runs and didn't make it to the fourth inning. It's odd that no teams made a move for the 28-year-old, even if he has suffered a dreaded dip in velocity. Atlanta will hope that Foltynewicz can find his stuff the way he did in the second half last year. He pitched to a 2.65 ERA in 10 starts down the stretch for the Braves.--Tim Capurso
