Mike Gerber Recalled From Triple-A Toledo
7 years agoThe Detroit Tigers have recalled outfielder Mike Gerber from Triple-A Toledo, the club announced Monday. Gerber had joined the club briefly last week as the 26th man for the team's doubleheader against Kansas City, but he was sent back to Toledo after the game. He'll now make the trip north again to rejoin the Tigers following the club's decision to designate reliever Drew VerHagen for assignment. The 25-year-old Gerber owns a .288/.354/.474 line in the minors since 2014 with 54 homers and 44 steals. He will figure into a crowded outfield mix where he'll split playing time with JaCoby Jones and Victor Reyes, as Leonys Martin and Nicholas Castellanos have essentially secured everyday status in center and right field, respectively. Still, Gerber is an interesting player to watch in dynasty formats.
