Mike Gesicki Has Expanded Role in Blowout Loss
5 years agoWhile Miami Dolphins tight end Mike Gesicki's final line wasn't impressive, his usage in a 59-10 blowout against the Ravens on Sunday was. Gesicki caught two of his six targets for 35 yards, including a 26-yard reception in the first quarter. More notably, though, Gesicki was also the only tight end targeted in the game and his six targets were second on the team only to wide receiver Devante Parker. If Gesicki continues to get such high usage, he could theoretically be viable as a TE1 in PPR leagues. But theoretical is a long way from practical and as long as the Dolphins offense remains a dumpster fire, Gesicki - or any other Dolphin - will be a risky play. The Dolphins are at home again next week against the Patriots, who are coming off a 33-3 drubbing of the Steelers in Week 1.
