6 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals relief pitcher Mike Mayers was optioned to Triple-A Memphis on Tuesday. Mayers has made the trip between St. Louis and Memphis so many times already this season that he must be able to get from one place to the other with his eyes closed by now. He's served as essentially an extra member of the pitching staff, working a few innings at the big league level here and there in between demotions to Memphis. He's been more than solid when given a chance though, posting a 2.30 ERA, 1.34 WHIP, and 11/4 K/BB ratio over 15 2/3 innings so far. He'll likely work his way back to St. Louis before long.--David A Marcillo - RotoBaller
