6 years agoChicago Cubs relief pitcher Mike Montgomery recorded the win over the Marlins on Thursday. The 29-year-old pitched five scoreless innings, coming in for starting pitcher Yu Darvish, who amassed 97 pitches through only four innings of work. It was Montgomery’s first quality outing of the season, and his first since returning from a left lat strain that put him on the shelf for about a month. With the Cubs giving no indication of transitioning to a six-man rotation, the team will likely continue to use him from the pen until he is able to join the starting unit.--Dennis Clausen - RotoBaller
