4 years agoCincinnati Reds second baseman Mike Moustakas is out of the starting nine for Wednesday’s contest against the Cleveland Indians as he continues to battle a left quad bruise. Josh VanMeter will hold down the keystone in Moustakas’ absence with Eugenio Suarez slotting back into the cleanup spot in the order. Moustakas came out of the gates on fire in 2020, but has since gone 0-for-11 at the dish over his last four outings. His presence at one of the league’s premier hitters parks makes him a hot commodity moving forward, but he will now have missed five of the team’s first 12 games. His next chance to get on the field comes Thursday against Cleveland right-hander Carlos Carrasco, whom he has struggled mightily against (3-for-25) during his career.--Jesse Borek
