Mike Shula, Ken Dorsey Let Go By Panthers
7 years agoThe Carolina Panthers relieved offensive coordinator Mike Shula and quarterbacks coach Ken Dorsey of their duties Tuesday. Shula had been the offensive coordinator for the last seven seasons and has been around for as long as quarterback Cam Newton has been with the team. Dorsey had been the QBs coach for the last five seasons. In 2017, the Panthers offense finished 19th in total offense (323.7 yards per game), fourth in rushing offense (131.4 yards per game), 28th in passing (192.3 yards per game) and 12th in points (22.7 per game). Under Shula and Dorsey, the Panthers never had an intimidating passing attack, although the lack of personnel certainly played a part. If Carolina doesn't upgrade Newton's group of pass catchers in 2018, the new offensive coordinator could struggle for answers, too.
