6 years agoCalgary Flames goaltender Mike Smith will get the nod on Wednesday against the Vancouver Canucks on opening night. Smith put up a respectful year before injuries cut his season short, putting up a record of 25-22-6 along with a .916 save percentage. With Calgary cutting Dougie Hamilton from the defensive line, while adding Noah Hanifin, there's no certainty as to what the Flames are going to look like this year. They'll face off against a league bottom Vancouver Canucks offense last season and the addition of Elias Pettersson will not change Smith's must-start status.--Caden Inaba
